Value Stream Design

The value stream design is a method which originated from the Toyota Production System (TPS).
Its goal is to visualize the “whole picture” and improve it – within the factory and beyond the factory. The value stream analysis is a simple, but astonishingly effective method which helps you record and in turn restructure the current state of the value stream of your business. The first step entails the visual illustration of the existing flow of the supply chain from gateway to gateway.

During this, material flows as well as the associated information flows are recorded. The second stage then serves to draw up an improved target state. The procedure recommends clear rules for the second state such as the use of Kanban systems.

The value stream analysis thus creates a communications platform (unified language) for a transparent analysis and finding and implementing solutions with regard to wasted resources and weaknesses in existing production systems.
